Amazon Adds Monthly Prime Subscriptions Including $8.99 For Video Only + 30 day Free Trial!! #ad

Amazon Prime has always required an annual payment to access its many benefits such as Prime Music, Instant Video, Prime Pantry, Prime Photos, Prime Early Access, Membership Sharing and more; but if a year-long commitment scares you, Amazon has finally made it easier.

Amazon has introduced two new monthly tiers for it's Prime service. For $8.99, you can get access to just Amazon Prime Video (directly competing with Netflix since currently new Netflix subscribers pay $9.99). You can pay $10.99 for access to (nearly) every benefit of Amazon Prime, including free two-day shipping, one-day shipping in some areas, music streaming, and other perks. Both of these options are more expensive than the annual prepaid membership though.
  • The $8.99 monthly plan would cost approximately $108 over a year ($9 more than the annual plan with fewer features).
  •  The full $10.99 monthly plan would end up costing $132 over a year ($33 more than the annual plan with less features).

While these options may be great for those who don’t want to keep Amazon Prime all year, keep in mind that if you keep your monthly plan for a year, you’re essentially throwing money away. One suggestion - maybe signing up just for the holiday shopping season would be a good idea for your household if you only use Amazon certain times during the year.

Don't forget you can get a 30 day FREE TRIAL to Amazon Prime so you can see if it's worth the money. I know we order a lot on Amazon plus we have purchased instant videos to watch too on family movie night so I know this would be beneficial to us to try for a month and see how much we save!!

We are just a little over a month away from the start of the annual Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly, Michigan. We love attending this festival as a family (and even sneaking away as a couple) and it draws large crowds from throughout Michigan and out of state!

This year's weekend themes are:
  • Harvest Huzzah (9/23-9/24)
  • Festival Friday (9/29) & Sweet Endings (9/30-10/1)

We have been attending the Renaissance Festival for over 20 years and they are always adding new foods, vendors, shows and attractions to the event. Some of the newer popular event attractions are Feast of Fantasy, Renaissance Romance, King's Happy Hour, Pub Crawl, Once Upon a Tea Time, Pig 'N Swig (gourmet bacon and beer tasting - this was a fun event!) and even a special Ladies Shopping Day.

The ever popular Masquerade Ball (21 and Older) - Details here (this sells out too so book your tickets now if interested).

Gears, Gadgets & Glam: A Steampunk Cocktail Party (details here - this will sell out so book now if interested).

Advance tickets can be purchased on the Michigan Renaissance Festival's website in addition to discounted tickets at local retailers like Kroger, Menards, Walgreens and Goodwill.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is a rollicking new tale of the high seas, infused with all the elements of fantasy, humor and action that have resulted in an international phenomenon for the past 13 years. Johnny Depp returns to his Academy Award®-nominated role as the outrageous, swashbuckling scoundrel Captain Jack Sparrow, and is joined by Oscar® winners Javier Bardem (Best Supporting Actor, “No Country for Old Men”) and Geoffrey Rush (Best Actor, “Shine”).

Fans who bring home “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will experience the nonstop action in stunning 4K Ultra HD format, the ultimate home entertainment experience with next-generation high dynamic range (HDR) visuals and Dolby Atmos® immersive audio.

Bonus material includes a collection of behind-the-scenes, making-of stories, including a conversation with directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg; a sit-down with the two young newcomers who play Henry and Carina; the secrets behind the menacing new villain, Salazar, and his ferocious ghost sharks; an on-set visit with Jack’s first mate from all five films; a chat with Sir Paul McCartney who appears as Uncle Jack; and a discussion about the franchise’s legacy; along with hilarious bloopers, deleted scenes and memories from producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s photo diary.

Movie Trailer:

The rip-roaring adventure—packed with humor, suspense and jaw-dropping special effects—finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack.

Our Thoughts:

Our daughter got a sneak peek of of the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie - Dead Men Tell No Tales on Digital HD. I confess that Rose hadn't seen the previous movies due to her age at the time (it's been 6 years) and she LOVED this movie as did I. She wasn't lost having not seen the others but I know she missed a few references. We binge-watched the first 4 movies for her to catch up. I have to say I am happy to see this installment came back around to the original draw of the first 3 movies (the 4th was missing my boyfriend Orlando Bloom and his love interest Kiera Knightly) and including glimpses of these two characters. I definitely recommend watching this movie!
